Abstract
Vasily Ivanovich Orl will be 70 years old on February 11, 2026 — to the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Head of the Department of
Social Pediatrics and Healthcare Organization of the Faculty of Postgraduate and Additional Professional Education of the Federal
State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University” of the Ministry of
Health of the Russian Federation, Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Medicine and Healthcare Organization”, Honored Scientist of the
Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor. Vasily Ivanovich's path to medicine began immediately after graduating
from high school, when he entered a medical school in Konotop, after successfully graduating from which he began working at a
medical and obstetric center as a head. After serving in the Armed Forces in 1977, Vasily Ivanovich entered the Leningrad Pediatric
Medical Institute, after which he completed postgraduate studies at the Department of Social Hygiene and Health Organization in 1983.
In 1986, he became the first assistant professor at the Department of Social Pediatrics established at the Institute. In the same year,
Vasily Ivanovich successfully defended his Ph D thesis, and in 1998 — his doctoral thesis. Since 1996, Vasily Ivanovich has been the
head of the Department of Social Pediatrics and the Organization of Public Health and Vocational Education. Since 1999, for 14 years,
he held the position of Vice-rector for Postgraduate Education. Since 2015, Vasily Ivanovich has been working as a Vice-rector for
Academic Affairs. Under his leadership and with scientific advice, 64 candidate's and 12 doctoral dissertations were defended. He is the
author of more than 450 scientific publications. He makes annual presentations at congresses, conventions, and conferences of various
levels. For many years of conscientious work, for scientific achievements, Vasily Ivanovich was awarded the honorary title “Honored
Scientist of the Russian Federation”, he was awarded the badges “Excellent Healthcare Worker” and "For the training of scientific
and pedagogical personnel", the Order of Friendship. The staff of the department sincerely congratulates Vasily Ivanovich on his 70th
birthday and sincerely wishes him good health, success in his academic, scientific and pedagogical activities, new creative ideas and
their speedy implementation.
