Development of the fetoplacental complex in female rats under conditions of non-alcoholic fatty liver
ORIGINAL STUDIES
Abstract
Background.Obesity and its accompanying metabolic imbalance are a growing problem in modern society. Such changes in the mother’s body during pregnancy lead to pathology of placenta formation and negative perinatal outcomes. Despite a large number of studies in this field, there are still no unified approaches to correcting intrauterine changes in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease during pregnancy.
The aim to studythe effect of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease on the fetoplacental complex and the possibility of its correction in an experimental rat model.
Materials and methods. The study included 18 pregnant female rats, 12 females were simulated for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease through a high-calorie diet for 35 days. Animals were divided into three groups: without non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (n=6), with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease without therapy (n=6), and with low-molecular-weight sugar (Heptrong) therapy (n=6). After withdrawal from the experiment, a histological examination of the placentas of 30 fetuses was performed to assess the structural and circulatory characteristics.
Results.Histological changes in the structure of the placenta in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease with the formation of chronic placental insufficiency and vascular disorders, as well as with positive dynamics of the revealed changes during hepatoprotective therapy, were revealed.
Conclusion. The results of the study demonstrated the negative impact of metabolic disorders in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease with the formation of pathological changes in the structure of the placenta. The applied therapy contributed to the restoration of the structural components of the placenta of the offspring in the framework of the experiment.
